How it works
Placeholder text exists so that people reviewing a layout look at the layout rather than reading the copy. Lorem ipsum has done that job since the 1500s precisely because it is meaningless but typographically realistic.
Paragraphs, sentences or words
Ask for whichever unit the mockup needs. Paragraphs run to four sentences each, which is close to typical body copy.
When not to use it
Placeholder text hides real problems: copy that will not fit, headlines that wrap badly, empty states nobody has written. Replace it with something close to the real length before signing anything off.
What you get
Words come from the classic “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet” passage, which starts every result. Sentences are 8 to 16 words long, begin with a capital and end with a full stop, and a paragraph is four sentences. You can make up to 50 paragraphs, sentences or words at a time.
It is the same every time
The text is not random: the same settings always give the same placeholder, which is handy when a layout should look identical each time you regenerate it.
