How it works

Re-casing text by hand is tedious and error-prone, and the naming conventions programmers rely on — camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case — are especially fiddly to produce manually from an ordinary phrase.

Title Case and Sentence case are different

Title Case capitalises every word. Sentence case capitalises only the first word and anything following a full stop. Publishers usually want one or the other, rarely both.

Programming conventions

camelCase joins words with capitals and no separator, snake_case uses underscores, kebab-case uses hyphens. All three lower the input first, so shouting text converts cleanly.

The everyday cases

UPPERCASE and lowercase change every letter. Title Case capitalises the first letter of each word and lower-cases the rest, so an acronym like NASA becomes Nasa. Sentence case lower-cases everything, then capitalises the first letter and each letter after a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark — names and acronyms need fixing by hand. All of these work with accented letters.

Programming cases

camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case first split the text into words at spaces, underscores, hyphens and camel-case humps, so XMLHttpRequest becomes xml, http and request. They then join the words as xmlHttpRequest, xml_http_request or xml-http-request. Punctuation inside a word is kept.

FAQ

Case converter — questions

Does it handle accented characters?

Yes. Case conversion uses Unicode-aware handling, so accented and non-Latin characters convert correctly.

Will Title Case ruin my acronyms?

Yes — Title Case normalises each word, so NASA becomes Nasa. Use Sentence case where acronyms must survive.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The conversion runs entirely in the page.
