How it works

Deadlines are almost never given as a date. They are given as "within 30 days", "14 working days", "three months from completion". Counting that on a calendar is slow and easy to get wrong, particularly across a month boundary or a leap year.

Working days

Choose weekdays and only Monday to Friday are counted — the usual meaning of "10 working days" in a contract or a refund policy. Public holidays are not excluded, because they differ by country and region, and inventing a holiday list would be worse than being clear that there isn't one.

Months and years behave sensibly

Adding one month to 31 January cannot land on 31 February. The calculation follows the standard convention your calendar app uses, so the result is the same date next month where that date exists. Leap years are handled correctly.

The day of the week

Every result shows which day it falls on, which is usually the thing you actually needed. A deadline that lands on a Saturday generally means something different from one that lands on a Tuesday.

Counting from today

Leave the starting date empty and it counts from today, which is what you want most of the time.

FAQ

Date calculator — questions

Does it skip public holidays?

No. Weekday counting excludes Saturdays and Sundays only, because holiday calendars differ by country and region.

What happens adding a month to the 31st?

You get the same date in the following month where it exists, following the standard convention. The result always shows the exact date so there is no ambiguity.

Are leap years handled?

Yes, by the browser's own date handling, which implements the full Gregorian rules.

Can I count backwards?

Yes. Switch the direction to subtract.

How is this different from days between dates?

That tool measures the gap between two dates you already know. This one starts from one date and finds the other.
