Calculator
A calculator that shows the whole expression, not just the last number.
- Runs in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded
- No sign-up, no quotas, free to use as often as you like
How it works
Most on-screen calculators work like a pocket calculator from 1985: you press buttons and only ever see the last number. Writing the whole expression and seeing the running answer is both quicker and far easier to check, because you can see what you typed.
Expressions, not keystrokes
Type the calculation as you would write it, with brackets where you need them, and the answer updates as you go. Multiplication and division are applied before addition and subtraction, and brackets override that, exactly as in ordinary mathematics.
What it handles
The four operations, percentages, brackets, powers, square roots, natural and base-10 logarithms, factorials, and sine, cosine and tangent. π and e are available as constants.
Angles are in radians
Trigonometric functions take radians, which is the convention in programming and in mathematics beyond school level. To work in degrees, multiply by π and divide by 180.
Keyboard and safety
Numbers, operators, Enter, Backspace and Escape all work from the keyboard. The expression is parsed by a small purpose-built parser rather than being handed to the browser's own evaluator, which would run whatever was typed — a shortcut plenty of online calculators take and none should.
Calculator — questions
Are the trigonometric functions in degrees?
No, radians. Multiply degrees by π and divide by 180 to convert.
Can I use my keyboard?
Yes. Numbers, operators, Enter, Backspace and Escape all work.
Why does the answer appear before I press equals?
The expression is evaluated as you type; equals simply replaces it with the result.
Is anything I calculate sent anywhere?
No. It runs in the page.
